In a time of political uncertainty, Sushila Karki has taken the oath of office as the Interim Prime Minister of Nepal. This appointment is seen as a key move to stabilize the government as the country navigates a transitional period. The ceremony was led by President Ramchandra Paudel. The newly formed interim cabinet, led by Karki, currently has no ministers. Sushila Karki, a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, was selected by the Gen Z movement. She took on the role of Chief Justice on July 11, 2016. In 2017, an impeachment motion was initiated against her within Parliament by the Maoist Centre and the Nepali Congress. Ultimately, this motion was retracted after facing public opposition and an interim ruling from the Supreme Court.
