Disha Patani’s family is reeling from a shooting at their residence in Bareilly. The attack, which occurred early Friday, involved two individuals on a motorcycle. No injuries were reported. The incident follows accusations against Disha’s sister, Khushboo, a former Army officer, of insulting religious figures, Saint Premanand Ji Maharaj and storyteller Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. Rohit Godara, a gangster, has claimed responsibility via social media.
Jagdish Patani, the actress’s father, has denied the claims against his daughter and provided his account of the event. In an interview with TV9, he recounted how the attackers targeted him and how he narrowly escaped. He was at home when the shooting began. The family dogs alerted him to the presence of outsiders. Upon opening the door, he encountered two individuals, who immediately aimed a gun at him. He quickly sought cover behind a wall. He estimated that 10-12 shots were fired, possibly from a foreign pistol. The attackers then fled.
Jagdish stated he was unsure about the involvement of any gang, as it’s easy to spread false information. He will wait for the police’s findings. When asked about the alleged disrespect to the saints, Jagdish explained that Khushboo had responded to comments made by Aniruddhacharya Ji. Jagdish believes this has been twisted to tarnish their reputation.
He expressed his gratitude for the police’s cooperation. He emphasized his and his daughter’s background in public service, stating they are familiar with dangerous situations. He requested the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, to take measures to prevent such incidents and to prosecute the criminals.
