Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his condolences following the devastating truck accident in Hassan, Karnataka. The PMO confirmed that the Prime Minister will provide financial aid to those affected by the tragedy. Families of the deceased will receive 200,000 rupees from the PMNRF, while the injured will receive 50,000 rupees.
The accident happened in Hassan’s Mosale Hosahalli village during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. A truck lost control during a Ganesh Visarjan procession and plowed into the crowd. Nine people died at the scene, and 22 others sustained injuries. The injured were immediately transported to a private hospital in Hassan for medical attention.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims were primarily young individuals. According to eyewitness accounts, the truck, traveling from Arkalgud, veered off course, leading to the tragic event.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also expressed his sorrow. The government has pledged to support the affected families, offering 500,000 rupees in compensation to those who lost loved ones. The state government will also bear the complete medical expenses for the injured.
Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy also shared his condolences, acknowledging the loss of several devotees and the serious injuries suffered by more than 20 individuals. He appealed to the state government to provide free medical care to all those injured in the accident.
