Range Rover’s CH01CE 0001 Number Plate Sells for Millions, Creates Online Stir

For many car lovers, the vehicle itself is just one part of the equation; the quest for a distinctive number plate is equally important. This passion was highlighted in Chandigarh, India, where a special number plate, CH01CE 0001, fitted on a Range Rover Vogue, has caused a sensation across social media platforms. A video that went viral on the internet displayed a dark satin blue Range Rover driving on the road. However, the number plate became the center of attention. The caption of the video read something along the lines of how the number plate was outshining the car. The video, which was uploaded on August 21, has been watched more than 2.1 million times. Users shared comments on the video. Some commented that the plate looked like ‘Choice’, which made it more appealing. Others stated that this number is unique throughout India. Several people mentioned it had a value of 34 lakh rupees, while many even described the car’s owner as the luckiest person alive. Chandigarh’s RLA (Registering and Licensing Authority) held an e-auction for fancy numbers in August this year. The number 0001 from the CH01-DA series was sold for 36.43 lakh rupees, which is the highest amount for any number so far. The base price for this number was only 50,000 rupees, but the bidding eventually reached crores. Other numbers like 007 (associated with James Bond) was sold for 16.50 lakh rupees, 0003 for 17.84 lakh, and 0009 for 16.82 lakh. The auction took place for four days (from August 19 to 22), during which 577 number plates were sold. As a result, the RLA made a record profit of 4.08 crore rupees. This was 1.1 crore rupees more than the previous year. Nowadays, luxury cars and unique number plates have become a symbol of status, not just for identification. People purchase numbers like 0001 or 0007 to showcase their achievements and exclusivity. The CH01CE 0001 plate on the Chandigarh Range Rover has once again proved that the number plate often attracts more attention than the car.
