A successful anti-Maoist operation in Bijapur district resulted in the arrest of two high-ranking Naxalites on September 25th. The joint operation involved the District Reserve Guard (DRG) Bijapur, Basaguda and Bhairamgarh police stations, and Cobra 210. The apprehended individuals were wanted for their involvement in various criminal activities and carried a combined reward of ₹9 lakhs. The arrests took place within the jurisdiction of Basaguda and Bhairamgarh police stations.
One of the arrested Maoists was Mallesh Kunjam, a 40-year-old DVCM of the Jagargunda Area Committee. He is the son of Boti alias Tokdu alias Nanda alias Hurra and a resident of Narsapur village. Kunjam had an ₹8 lakh bounty on his head.
The second arrest was of Anil Veko, the Janatana Sarkar President, captured during a search operation near Darmar village. Veko, 32, was involved in several Maoist-related incidents and had a reward of ₹1 lakh. Both individuals were handed over to the relevant authorities and presented before the court for legal proceedings and judicial remand.
