A disturbing case has come to light in the Golmuri police station area of East Singhbhum, where 22-year-old Ajay Basa, also known as Jhattu, was murdered. The investigation revealed that Ajay was sacrificed by his friend, Sandeep Prasad, who sought to gain spiritual powers (Siddhi) through tantra-mantra rituals. Sandeep, along with four accomplices, has been apprehended.
The shocking details of the murder, which occurred on Monday, emerged during police questioning. The investigation revealed that the motive behind the crime has sent shockwaves through the community. Police have arrested Sandeep Prasad, Ajay’s neighbor and friend, his brother, mother, brother-in-law, and Bharat, a resident of Kewaltown, in connection with the brutal act.
Further interrogation unveiled that Sandeep had been practicing tantra-mantra for an extended period and had been plotting to sacrifice his friend Ajay to achieve “Siddhi” for three years. Bharat, a co-conspirator, admitted that he was aware of Sandeep’s plan but remained silent due to fear.
The investigation indicates that on Monday, Sandeep and Bharat purchased a large iron box and stored it in a rented room in Kewaltown. Sandeep then lured Ajay to the room under the guise of a “party.” Ajay was rendered unconscious after being given alcohol. His hands and feet were subsequently bound, and he was confined within the box.
During the night, Sandeep brought the boxed Ajay to his residence and initiated tantra-mantra rituals. Around midnight, Ajay’s throat was slit with a sharp weapon during the sacrifice. Police sources indicated that Ajay’s blood was used in the rituals. After Ajay began to convulse, his body was discarded in the adjacent lane.
Upon receiving information, Golmuri police station in-charge Sanjay Suman, along with his team, arrived and transported the injured Ajay to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route.
During questioning, Sandeep made a startling admission, confessing that he had also caused the death of Ajay’s father, Jagdish Basa, through tantra-mantra practices a year prior. Sandeep then acquired the deceased’s hotel. He claimed to have gained control over Ajay through his tantra-mantra abilities and had been preparing for the sacrifice for a considerable time.
Adding to the mystery, the accused’s father and sister had also died under unclear circumstances. The father is believed to have committed suicide five years ago, while the sister’s death remains suspicious.
The police have recovered the box, knife, and ritualistic items from the crime scene.
