The mid-size SUV segment is set for a major shakeup in the coming years. Responding to the strong demand for vehicles in this category, several manufacturers are preparing to release new models aimed at challenging the Hyundai Creta, a vehicle that has been a segment leader for the last ten years.
In 2026, Tata Motors, Kia, and Renault are all planning to introduce new mid-size SUVs. Tata’s offering, the new Sierra, will join the existing Curvv model in the segment. Renault will re-enter the market with a new generation of the Duster. Kia intends to launch a second-generation Seltos, recognizing that the current model has been available for over seven years and has received updates over time. Here is a detailed look at the upcoming SUVs.
Tata Sierra
Scheduled for launch in early 2026, the Tata Sierra will feature a fresh design, and will be offered initially as an electric vehicle. It will come with two battery options and boasts a claimed range exceeding 500 km on a single charge. An ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version will follow the EV launch and will be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo petrol and a 2.0-liter diesel engine.
New-Gen Kia Seltos
Having been spotted during testing numerous times, the second-generation Seltos is expected to arrive at dealerships around the first half of 2026. It will receive significant cosmetic changes and a redesigned cabin. The exterior will showcase new headlights, daytime running lights (DRLs), bumpers, tail lamps, and alloy wheels, with updated features inside the cabin.
New Renault Duster
The Duster nameplate is set to return early next year, based on the new global Duster model. It will utilize the CMF-B architecture, and a Nissan variant will also be available. The initial offerings are expected to include at least two petrol engine options, with a hybrid engine possibly being introduced later.
