In the wake of violence in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, authorities have undertaken a demolition drive targeting illegal constructions. The focus has been on structures linked to individuals accused of involvement in the recent clashes. These clashes occurred on September 26th, following a protest concerning “I Love Muhammad” posters. Several individuals were injured in the ensuing violence. Raja Palace, a marriage hall belonging to Dr. Nafees Ahmed, who was arrested in connection with the unrest, was demolished. According to officials, the demolition was due to violations of building norms. Concurrently, a house in Faik Enclave, associated with Maulana Tauqeer Raza, was sealed. Opposition figures have voiced concerns over the demolition, particularly regarding the absence of the mandatory 15-day notice. The initial controversy started in early September 2025.
