The Sarla Birla Public School in Ranchi became the epicenter of martial arts excitement on Tuesday, marking the grand opening of the 8th B.K. Birla Ranchi District Inter-School Taekwondo Championship 2025-26. The Ranchi District Taekwondo Association has successfully brought together over 230 students from 16 diverse schools for this much-anticipated two-day tournament. Athletes are competing fiercely in Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 age groups for boys and girls. The first day’s schedule was dedicated to the Under-14 matches, with the remaining categories, Under-17 and Under-19, set to culminate on October 15th. The opening ceremony was a display of enthusiasm, featuring a dynamic welcome dance that fused Taekwondo movements with artistic expression. Dignitaries delivered motivating addresses, and a ceremonial lamp lighting set an inspiring tone for the event. A core objective of this championship is to cultivate physical fitness, mental resilience, disciplined conduct, and a strong sense of sportsmanship in young participants. Principal Manisha Sharma addressed the athletes, urging them to perform with integrity and determination, noting that Taekwondo is instrumental in developing focus, respect, and self-confidence. She further added that these events contribute significantly to students’ holistic development, enhancing their physical and mental strength and embedding the principles of self-assurance and discipline.
