The immediate obstacle is a deep rift within the ruling Mahagathbandhan, as the Congress party has nominated Praveen Kushwaha, asserting its traditional ownership of the Kahalgaon seat.
Congress leaders are adamant about their claim, highlighting the seat’s historical significance and the past dominance of Sadanand Singh. Despite the RJD’s efforts to persuade Congress to back down, the party is actively campaigning for Kushwaha, signaling an unwavering stance. His strong electoral record, including a decisive victory in the previous election, makes him a significant contender.
Minister Sanjay Yadav is heavily invested in his son’s electoral journey, with his political standing at stake. Rajnish Yadav must contend with a divided alliance, a popular independent candidate, and the overarching political strategy of the JDU.
