The Ghatsila Assembly by-election in East Singhbhum district is nearing its conclusion, with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) nominee Somesh Chandra Soren establishing a commanding lead. As the 17th round of counting concludes, Soren leads with 89,251 votes, positioning him for a decisive win. The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Babulal Soren, trails with 56,445 votes. This outcome has ignited jubilant scenes among JMM supporters. Ramdas Murmu, representing the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, is in third place with 11,235 votes. Lesser-known candidates and independent hopefuls have seen minimal support. For instance, independent candidate Dr. Shrilal Kisku garnered 1,341 votes, while Panchanan Soren of the Bharat Adivasi Party received just 901 votes. The NOTA option also registered a considerable number of votes, with 2,458 voters choosing it, outperforming many fringe candidates.
