A shocking road incident in Sydney has resulted in the tragic death of an 8-month pregnant Indian woman and her unborn child. The victim, Samanvitha Dhareshwar, 33, was out with her family when a high-speed collision tragically ended their lives.
Authorities reported that the accident happened on George Street, Hornsby, when a BMW rear-ended a Kia Carnival. The Kia was stationary, waiting for Dhareshwar and her family to cross a pedestrian area. The force of the impact pushed the Kia forward, hitting Dhareshwar. She was in the advanced stages of pregnancy, expecting her second child.
Dhareshwar was transported to Westmead Hospital, where medical professionals sadly confirmed the loss of both mother and baby. The 19-year-old driver of the BMW, who was on a provisional license, has been arrested. He faces serious charges, including dangerous driving and causing the loss of a foetus, with the possibility of charges under Zoe’s Law, which addresses offenses leading to the death of an unborn child.
