A major farmers’ rally organized by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) is set to cause widespread traffic diversions and restrictions across Chandigarh on Sunday, November 26. The rally, marking the fifth anniversary of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ agitation, is anticipated to draw more than 10,000 farmers, predominantly from Punjab, many traveling in tractor-trolleys. To manage this large gathering, particularly at the designated Sector 43 Dussehra Ground, Chandigarh Police have enacted stringent traffic management measures. Over 1,000 officers are on duty in Sector 43 and its vicinity, with reinforced security and contingency plans including reserve forces and multiple check posts at critical intersections like Attawa Chowk. Commuters are urged to stay informed about the specific routes that will be impacted. Major road closures and diversions are expected along the pathway from Kajheri Chowk to the Sector 42/43 Small Chowk, extending towards Attawa Chowk. Further restrictions will apply from the Sector 43/44 light point towards the Judicial Academy light point and back to the Sector 42/43 Small Chowk. Planning ahead and utilizing alternative routes is highly recommended for all travelers today.
