Chhattisgarh security forces have achieved a significant success in Bijapur, neutralizing 18 Naxalites in a fierce encounter. The operation unfolded in a dense forest region straddling the Bijapur and Dantewada districts. Authorities confirmed the recovery of a large quantity of arms and ammunition from the deceased militants, including powerful rifles like the AK-47 and INSAS. A key figure among those eliminated was identified as Modiyam Vella, a company commander in the PLGA, who was a wanted operative with a reward of Rs 8 lakh. Vella had a history of involvement in violent incidents, including a previous ambush that resulted in fatalities. While the operation was a success against the Naxalites, it came at a cost, with three brave DRG personnel losing their lives and two others injured. The neutralization of these 18 militants contributes to the state’s record of eliminating 275 Naxalites this year.
