A woman’s desperate attempt to escape an abusive marriage has ended in a gruesome crime and multiple arrests in Balodabazar, Chhattisgarh. Kusum Joshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband Gas Kumar Joshi, told investigators that her life had become a living hell due to her husband’s demands. She alleged that Gas Kumar not only forced her into unnatural relationships but also pressured her to establish contacts with other men. Driven by resentment and fear, she planned his murder with the help of her relatives. The execution was meticulous; the victim was taken to Darchura village, fed alcohol, and then brutally assaulted until he passed out. The contract killers then drove him 20 kilometers to a railway track where he was decapitated with a sword. The police have now custody of all four accused, including the contract killers who were paid to carry out the execution. This case highlights the extreme lengths to which domestic disputes can escalate when left unaddressed by legal intervention.
