Over a frantic four-day period, Assam Rifles orchestrated precision strikes in Mizoram, shattering smuggling rackets with hauls of Myanmar currency exceeding 1.75 crore rupees, contraband tobacco, foreign smokes, and a staggering 223.6 grams of heroin No. 4. Four perpetrators face justice after the coordinated takedowns.
The sequence began January 17 in Zotlang, Champhai district. A vehicle stoppage unveiled 174 grams of premium heroin—market value 1.46 crore rupees—from two onboard traffickers. Authorities in Champhai received the full handover.
Following up on the 19th in Jote, the same district, troops halted a Honda scooter. Rider K. Thangjalala was nabbed with 49.6 grams of heroin (39 lakh rupees worth), scooter included, destined for excise officials.
Capping the spree on Tuesday in Tuipang, Siaha, one suspect clutched Myanmar Kyat (1.75 crore rupees), tobacco (50,000 rupees), and cigarettes (1.30 lakh). All went to local police.
Posted officially on social media, these victories affirm Assam Rifles’ dominance in border enforcement. By choking supply lines from Myanmar, they are instrumental in stemming the tide of drugs poisoning the region’s future.
