With Republic Day knocking on the door, Punjab Police delivered a body blow to terror outfits by busting a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) cell in Hoshiarpur. A coordinated effort by local forces and Jalandhar’s Counter Intelligence led to the capture of four operatives armed with lethal explosives.
Residents of Rahon in SBS Nagar, the arrested quartet—Diljot Singh, Harman Singh (Harry/Hari), Ajay (Mehra), and Arshdeep Singh (Arsh Kandhola)—possessed a hefty 2.5 kg RDX IED and dual pistols. DGP Gaurav Yadav disclosed that the module answered to BKI bosses in the US, who engineered the device for assaults on Republic Day events.
The DGP highlighted preliminary evidence pointing to imminent threats, with investigations probing deeper connections. ‘We are leaving no stone unturned,’ he affirmed.
SSP Sandeep Malik credited sharp intel for the raid, exposing how ISI proxies smuggled weapons via Ferozepur and Amritsar borders, with the module overseeing distribution.
Charges under BNS 113(1)/(3), Arms Act, and Explosives Act have been filed at Garhshankar police station. This preemptive strike reinforces Punjab’s resolve, ensuring festive security amid shadowy cross-border intrigues.
