Bihar’s push towards gender equality accelerates as Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana rolls out up to Rs 2 lakh in follow-up assistance for chosen women entrepreneurs. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar broke the news on X, celebrating the scheme’s role in building self-reliance.
Designed to spark entrepreneurship in every family, the initiative kicked off with Rs 10,000 DBT to 1.56 crore women across rural and urban divides. The rest are in the pipeline for prompt delivery.
Six months in, performance checks are triggering the next wave of support. Women proving effective use of seed money qualify for substantial boosts—installment-wise or lump-sum—up to Rs 2 lakh, based on business viability.
Crucially, the plan extends to market access. Officials are tasked with plugging these ventures into government ecosystems, from dress-making hubs to Sudha dairies and Didi Ki Rasoi. This ecosystem support aims to guarantee sales and scalability.
Nitish Kumar envisions a transformed Bihar: Empowered women anchoring families, ample local jobs curbing migration. With disbursals starting, the scheme heralds widespread economic inclusion, positioning women at the forefront of state progress.
