Marking the 76th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath spearheaded a dignified homage event at Lucknow’s historic GPO Park. The Friday gathering blended solemnity with cultural expressions, drawing attention to Bapu’s lasting influence.
The Chief Minister reverently garlanded the Gandhi statue, offered flowers, and observed silence to honor the leader who championed non-violence. Post-ceremony, he used his X platform to dedicate shraddha suman and rally citizens toward Gandhi-inspired living for India’s development.
School students elevated the mood with heartfelt bhajan recitals, prominently featuring ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ and others. Yogi sat engrossed for nearly quarter of an hour, later praising the performers and capturing the moment in photos with them at the statue base.
His heartfelt X update stated: ‘Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi ji ko punyatithi par shat-shat naman. The light of Bapu’s satyanishtha, unwavering ahimsa sadhana, and boundless human karuna will forever inspire the globe. Let us pledge to adopt his ideals for a prosperous, just, developed India.’
