US envoy to India Sergio Gor has voiced Washington’s determination to fortify bilateral relations following a landmark visit by India’s EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar. The February 2-4 trip to America featured substantive talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Gor spotlighted the exchanges, circulating images and stating, ‘Engagements at peak levels. America is primed to elevate this vital partnership. Unmatched opportunities.’
Jaishankar contributed to Rubio’s Critical Minerals forum, pledging India’s support for collaborative measures to de-risk global supply chains—a priority amid trade wars and resource scarcities.
Talks with Rubio were multifaceted, addressing trade flows, energy partnerships, nuclear initiatives, defense pacts, vital minerals, and technological frontiers. Jaishankar highlighted the breadth: ‘Wide discussions on cooperation, regions, and world affairs.’
Both sides greenlit prompt follow-ups to harness synergies. The Bessent meeting advanced economic and strategic dialogues.
‘Pleasure meeting Secretary Rubio today,’ and ‘Valuable conversation with Secretary Bessent on economic progress,’ Jaishankar posted.
As India and the US navigate shared challenges like climate change and security threats, these developments herald a new era of intensified collaboration, benefiting their citizens and the global community.
