The prestigious 74th ITPI National Town and Country Planners Conference lit up Ahmedabad’s Karnavati Club on Friday, drawing visionaries to SG Highway. Inaugurated by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Katikithala Srinivas at 9:30 AM, it united Gujarat Minister Darshana Vaghela, UP’s Keshav Varma, ITPI’s Pradeep Kapoor, and elite planners.
Under the banner ‘Dynamic Regional Strategies for Developed India,’ the forum tackled pressing urban issues: sustainable density management, inclusive expansion, and accommodating tomorrow’s millions smartly.
Minister Vaghela reflected: ‘Engaging with national experts at this 2026 event highlighted essentials—modern infra, parks, seamless traffic, housing, and amenities—for sustainable city growth amid urbanization waves.’
Secretary Srinivas, speaking candidly, positioned Gujarat as a national template. ‘Echoing PM Modi’s insight, urban India will house 50%, generate 75-80% GDP, harnessed by young talent. Proactive federal efforts, including Minister Manohar Lal’s conferences, sync with mayors and officials for methodical progress.’
Wrapping up, the event galvanized stakeholders towards a blueprint for urban excellence, pivotal to India’s developed nation aspirations.
