Dominance defined India’s path to a sixth Under-19 World Cup title, as they hammered England by 100 runs in a one-sided final at Harare. Opting to bat, India unleashed 411/9, driven by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive 175 – an 80-ball symphony of 15 fours and 15 sixes.
Shaking off Aaron George’s early exit (9 at 20/1), Suryavanshi’s 142-run stand with captain Ayush Mhatre (53 off 51) set the platform. He then raced to 251 with Vedant Trivedi (89-run partnership). Vihaan Malhotra (30), Abhigyan Kundu (40 off 31), and Kanishk Chauhan (37*) finished strongly.
James Minto (3 wickets) toiled for England, aided by Sebastian Morgan and Alex Green (2 apiece).
England’s chase imploded at 311 all out (40.2 overs). Joseph Moore fell for 17 at 19/1; Ben Dawkins countered with 74 (Ben Mays 45 off 28), 49 (Thomas Rev), and 32 (Caleb Faulkner). Yet, from 174/4, they tumbled to 177/7.
Faulkner’s gritty 115 (67 balls: 9×4, 7×6) was in vain against India’s bowlers. RS Ambarish claimed 3, Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chauhan 2 each, Mhatre 1.
A testament to tactical brilliance and talent, this victory positions India as perennial U19 powerhouses.
