Bihar’s war on corruption intensified Monday as the Vigilance Investigation Bureau arrested Nagar block BDO Rakesh Kumar red-handed with Rs 50,000 bribe money in Gaya. The meticulously planned sting at the block office’s chief chamber sends a strong message to errant officials.
Triggering the probe was Suchita Ranjan’s grievance from Chakand’s Gannu Bigaha. Her family’s Rs 3.50 lakh labor payment was stalled by Kumar’s bribe demands, despite verified completion.
Bureau sleuths corroborated the claim, deploying DSP Satyendra Ram’s squad for the takedown. The moment Kumar grabbed the bribe, the net closed.
Interrogation precedes Patna Special Court presentation; case logged at Vigilance thana. This 16th offense of the year, with 11 arrests and Rs 7.15 lakh confiscated, reflects the bureau’s proactive purge, safeguarding funds meant for Bihar’s grassroots development from greedy hands.
