Revolutionizing public healthcare in the capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled groundbreaking facilities at GB Pant Hospital on Monday, including North India’s inaugural 256-slice spectral CT scanner in a government setup. The launch extended to a sophisticated neuro cath lab and a 16-bed advanced neuro ICU with integrated operation theaters.
Costing around 20 crore rupees, the scanner’s spectral capabilities deliver exceptionally detailed scans in mere seconds, excelling in cancer detection, cardiology, stroke assessment, and angiography. Its low-radiation design enhances safety, making it a vital tool for diverse patient needs.
Gupta, addressing the gathering with Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, stressed, ‘Delhi’s public hospitals are now equipped to rival the best private ones. This is our pledge to accessible, top-tier care for all.’ The event symbolizes relentless efforts to globalize local health services.
At 9 crore rupees, the Philips-equipped neuro cath lab will tackle complex neurovascular diseases, from strokes to tumors, aiding over 1,200 patients annually with timely interventions that prevent lasting damage.
The 2-crore neuro ICU upgrade introduces comprehensive monitoring and surgical amenities, providing unwavering support for critically ill neurology patients through expert, 24/7 attention.
Dr. Singh enthused, ‘No more referrals or delays—these assets empower immediate, superior treatment, prioritizing lives above all.’
Aligned with national aspirations for a world-class health framework, these enhancements position Delhi as a treatment magnet. They underscore a future where advanced medicine is a right, not a privilege, profoundly impacting public health trajectories.
