At the launch of the groundbreaking ‘Oncology Beyond Borders’ conference in Nagpur, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis delivered a compelling message: conquering cancer requires equal emphasis on averting it and catching it early, alongside robust treatments.
The National Cancer Institute-hosted event comes amid a sharp uptick in cancer over the last decade, cementing its status as a healthcare behemoth. Fadnavis reflected on India’s healthcare gains but affirmed cancer’s enduring challenge on every scale.
‘Cancer doesn’t see lines on maps or bank balances—we must converge, exchange insights, and devise universal fixes,’ he said passionately. Such gatherings, he added, are goldmines for synergy, learning, and inventive strides in patient care.
The CM applauded the institute for its world-class interventions drawing global seekers of hope. He elaborated on Maharashtra’s Maha Cancer Foundation, tasked with rolling out a statewide hub-and-spoke system for seamless, high-quality cancer support.
Fadnavis passionately championed escalated R&D in AI, biotechnology, and cutting-edge medical tools to revolutionize early spotting and outcomes. By prioritizing these, he envisioned markedly improved lifespans and a diminished societal toll from cancer.
