Maha Shivratri brought record crowds to Mumbai’s revered Babulnath Temple, affectionately called the city’s royal shrine. Bollywood luminaries, including acclaimed director Madhur Bhandarkar and veteran producer Ashok Pandit, made their way through the masses for sacred darshan.
Reflecting on the visit, Bhandarkar highlighted the temple’s pan-India appeal. ‘This is a blessed opportunity amid the devoted multitudes,’ he expressed to media. ‘Everyone’s sincerity inspires. I seek prosperity and vitality for all.’
Kashmir-origin Pandit underscored the festival’s personal resonance. ‘As Shiva followers, we Kashmiri Pandits cherish Shivratri immensely,’ he said. ‘The temple’s aura brings serenity. Prayers go to our brave forces and their kin for strength and safety.’
With the India-Pakistan game looming, sentiments soared. Bhandarkar predicted confidently, ‘India’s victory is inevitable today. The whole nation backs Team India to vanquish Pakistan.’
Pandit voiced dissent on the fixture: ‘Matches with terrorism patrons are inappropriate. Nevertheless, our promising players will prevail under Shivratri’s benevolence.’
The event at Babulnath captured a poignant intersection of ancient rituals and modern rivalries, leaving devotees invigorated for triumphs on and off the field.
