Maha Shivratri unfolded with majestic splendor in Hajipur, where Union Minister Nityanand Rai upheld a 30-year vow by piloting a bullock cart in the famed Shiva Baraat. Embracing simplicity with dhoti, kurta, and gamchha, he dove headlong into bhakti, captivating onlookers.
From the hallowed Pataleshwar Nath Temple, Rai commenced with fervent worship, then assumed his revered position. This isn’t mere participation—it’s a personal odyssey of faith that overrides his national responsibilities.
The baraat erupted into a symphony of devotion: rhythmic dhol beats, blaring bands, majestic animal processions, and costumed revelers fueled the frenzy. Clouds of abir and gulal mingled with thunderous ‘Har Har Mahadev’ roars from enthusiastic pilgrims.
Mingling freely, Rai conveyed festive wishes and reflected on the ritual’s antiquity. ‘Vaishali’s faithful flock here annually; it’s my privilege to serve as gariwan,’ he affirmed, committing eternally to the practice.
Concluding at Akshay Vat Rai Stadium, the event celebrated exemplary floats and musicians. BJP leaders and Shiva devotees swelled the ranks, as Rai beseeched Lord Shiva for enduring peace, sealing Hajipur’s Maha Shivratri in triumphant reverence.
