The Education Ministry has launched an ambitious AI adoption strategy for India’s learning landscape, forged in collaboration with educators, corporations, and startups. This holistic approach spans school curricula to specialized technical training, promising profound changes.
A high-profile session at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Bharat Mandapam underscored the momentum. Under the banner ‘Ministry of Education: Pushing the Frontier of AI in India,’ experts dissected pathways for policy-driven, tech-enabled institutional evolution.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alongside Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary, spearheaded the event. Pradhan linked the summit’s genesis to PM Modi’s strategic foresight, noting India’s emergence as an AI adoption pacesetter. He projected AI as instrumental in forging a global knowledge hub en route to Viksit Bharat 2047.
Pradhan spotlighted the youth, advocating for intertwined paradigms: AI-enhanced teaching and AI literacy. ‘This generation thinks differently—equip them with AI, and they’ll innovate to put India ahead,’ he urged.
Chaudhary highlighted fruitful exchanges on embedding AI from early schooling through skills, R&D, and leadership roles. He engaged with displays of practical AI solutions from ministry and Skill India initiatives.
Backed by a decade of digital advancements, policy innovations, and skill programs, the ministry’s efforts culminated in the IIT Madras AI for Education Centre. Ongoing consultations refined the roadmap.
Echoing the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave’s call for ethical AI, the ministry signals a shift to action. United efforts aim to future-proof education, ensuring India’s youth drives the nation towards its 2047 aspirations.
