MUMBAI – The inauguration of the India-France Innovation Forum-2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Emmanuel Macron marks a pivotal step in deepening bilateral engagement. In his address, Modi portrayed the alliance as a fusion of cutting-edge innovation and unwavering trust.
‘When two global innovation giants like India and France unite, it’s underpinned by shared values and reliability,’ Modi remarked. They announced 2026 as the Year of Innovation for both countries, symbolizing a profound dedication to joint endeavors.
Drawing from India’s rich innovative heritage spanning thousands of years, Modi highlighted the contemporary renaissance: vibrant startups, elite research facilities, and a pervasive optimism. ‘Startup India has propelled us to third place worldwide, with unicorns jumping from four to more than 120 in a decade,’ he proudly shared.
Indo-French ties, among the most enduring strategic partnerships, have gained remarkable depth under Macron’s stewardship. ‘Rooted in trust, we’re advancing to a special global strategic partnership,’ Modi affirmed, essential for navigating global volatility.
Key to this is their venture into building the world’s only Everest summit-reaching helicopter in India for global markets. This collaboration heralds expanded opportunities in high-tech manufacturing, renewable energy, and beyond, ensuring sustained prosperity and leadership.
