Heightening the drama in Mohammad Shami’s marital discord, India’s Supreme Court has notified the cricketer on Hasin Jahan’s application to transfer domestic violence and alimony proceedings from Kolkata to Delhi jurisdiction.
Relaying her shift to Delhi for optimal daughter’s schooling, Hasin deems Kolkata hearings burdensome. She counters that Shami’s jet-setting career and proximity of his UP family make Delhi viable, ensuring smoother participation.
Previously, she petitioned the SC for doubling maintenance to Rs 10 lakhs monthly from Rs 4 lakhs, prompting notices to Shami and Bengal officials.
Post-2014 nikah and 2015 parenthood, 2018 brought Hasin’s explosive claims of battery, poisoning attempts, sexual misconduct, and betting fixes against Shami’s kin. Lodged at Jadavpur under IPC 498A, 307, 376 et al., and CrPC 125 for upkeep.
Shami’s riposte on pitches continues, dismantling Jammu & Kashmir with nine scalps in Ranji. This judicial pivot might expedite resolution, balancing celebrity privacy with public interest in such resonant disputes.
