Delhi Police’s lightning-fast investigation has borne fruit, with two arrests in the cold-blooded stabbing of Amarnath Yadav at a Rohini petrol pump. The crime unfolded on February 16, leaving the victim critically injured from chest wounds, discovered at 6:56 PM in Sector 23.
Begumpur personnel arrived promptly, rushing Yadav to SGM Hospital, but he could not be saved. Robbed of his mobile, the case screamed robbery-homicide, triggering an FIR under BNS Section 103(1). A crack team, headed by the SHO, partnered with crime scene experts to secure evidence like blood spatter and tool marks.
Grueling sessions with area hawkers, watchmen, and waste collectors flagged a grey scooter duo as prime suspects—Rohit and Durgesh alias Durgi, 29-year-old junkies from GTB Colony. A tipster’s whisper, amplified by surveillance, guided the net.
Thursday, February 19 marked the turnaround: Rohit fell into custody, betraying his partner in crime. Durgesh followed suit. The haul was comprehensive—the pilfered phones, assault knife, escape vehicle, and crimson-stained clothes linking them irrefutably to the deed.
Additional DCP Rajiv Ranjan lauded the teamwork that wrapped the case in 72 hours. In an era of fleeting escapes, this success bolsters public trust, spotlighting the need for community-police synergy against rising mugging incidents tied to addiction in Delhi’s fringes.
