Demonstrating its stake in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian impasse, India participated as an observer in the Board of Peace’s opening session in Washington DC, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. The Friday statement reaffirmed India’s endorsement of all UNSC Resolution 2803 peace processes for Gaza.
Randhir Jaiswal, MEA spokesperson, shared details at the New Delhi presser: ‘India attended the inaugural Board of Peace meeting in Washington as an observer. We hail President Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan and back every initiative under UNSC 2803.’
Featuring delegates from over 40 nations and several presidents, the summit was notably influential. India’s envoy, Charge d’Affaires Namgya Khampa from the DC mission, carried the flag.
Addressing the communique’s unease with Israel’s West Bank actions, Jaiswal linked it to prior declarations: ‘Not akin to UN pacts, our position aligns with the India-Arab League statement.’ He cited the January 31 Delhi Declaration from the ministerial meeting, built on January 30 officials’ discussions.
The document pledges adherence to global law, UN mandates, and Arab Peace Initiative for comprehensive Middle East peace. It champions a viable Palestinian state per 1967 lines, coexisting peacefully with Israel, and safeguards Palestinian entitlements.
India’s measured involvement highlights its role as a diplomatic anchor, promoting inclusive solutions. In a volatile arena, this positions New Delhi centrally in peace architecture.
