Implementation was cautious and calculated, incorporating exhaustive trials for all essentials from check-in to baggage, security, and flight handling. The Prime Minister’s inauguration on December 20, 2023, had already spotlighted its promise.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Adani Airport Holdings Director Jeet Adani attended the vibrant launch. Notable moments included the ceremonial first boarding pass and the Akasa Air flight’s landing from Mumbai. Cultural festivities with deep lighting and performances by artisans, tea workers, employees, and security personnel infused local pride.
The Chief Minister spotlighted Adani Group’s honoring of the Rs 50,000 crore pledge from ‘Advantage Assam 2.0’, hailing it as a tourism catalyst and economic pivot. Jeet Adani framed it as emblematic of regional evolution and a source of pride.
Guwahati has surged as a top non-metro performer, exceeding 9 million passengers yearly to claim a top 10-12 national position. Enhanced capacity fuels prospects for novel routes and broader global ties, servicing 21 domestic and three international points—Bangkok, Paro, Singapore—through 130+ flights daily.
Nuru Karim’s visionary design channels the elegance of the Kopou Phool, employing over 140 metric tons of bamboo to honor Assamese crafts and Apatani traditions. Adani Airport Holdings Limited, via its Guwahati arm, extends management to Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Mangaluru airports.
