A significant update has emerged for Bhagalpur’s metro initiative, positioning the city for smart urban growth. First-phase surveys are handed over, and second-phase ground operations are in full swing, signaling rapid progress toward building.
Teams are surveying Nathnagar’s Nastarkhani, Rattipur-Bairia, Champanagar, Purani Sarai, Rampur Khurd, Maheshpur, Aliganj, and Sabour areas like Sardho and Jiccho. Focus areas include viable station spots, alignment options, and feasibility studies. This will yield an intricate digital masterplan with data on constructions, roadways, drainage, water bodies, topography, groundwater, and utilities—critical for construction accuracy.
The network boasts three lines—Red, Blue, Green—on two corridors: the 17-km East-West from Sabour to Champanagar and 12-km North-South from Bhagalpur to Vatuvihar, with 22 stations planned. Bhagalpur’s interchange station will facilitate easy line changes.
Yard development sites are being shortlisted in Jagdishpur (multiple spots) and Nathnagar university area for operational hubs.
Residents can look forward to jam-free roads, quicker trips, and spurred commerce and infrastructure upgrades. With surveys nearing completion, Bhagalpur metro is on the cusp of reality.
