Uttar Pradesh’s political arena buzzed with controversy as Samajwadi Party’s ‘PDA Day’ nod to BSP founder Kanshiram on his jayanti provoked a fierce rebuttal from Mayawati. The BSP leader dismissed it as hollow posturing, unmasking SP’s alleged disdain for Dalit and Bahujan aspirations.
On X, Mayawati minced no words: ‘This PDA Day announcement is just political drama on Kanshiram ji’s jayanti.’ She framed it as a vote-grabbing facade, contrasting sharply with SP’s track record of hostility toward marginalized groups.
Mayawati underscored SP’s ‘deceptive nature,’ tying it to a legacy of Dalit exploitation that no election ploy can erase. ‘They never cared before; now it’s 2027 election tactics,’ she observed.
Historical wounds resurfaced with mentions of the 1993 SP-BSP pact’s unkept promises against caste violence. The June 1995 Guest House saga took center stage, where Mayawati alleged a life-threatening ambush under Mulayam’s leadership.
She hammered SP for systematically altering names of tributes to Kanshiram—districts, the Lucknow Urdu-Farsi-Arabic University, and a Saharanpur hospital—all seen as assaults on Bahujan dignity.
Mayawati also indicted SP for riots that ravaged Muslim lives and properties, while noting its uneasy dance with BJP that prolonged public suffering.
Challenging SP directly, she asked why Kanshiram’s death merited no official mourning. This verbal duel amplifies divisions in UP politics, setting the tone for upcoming electoral showdowns.
