Thursday brought spiritual fervor to Jamshedpur as President Droupadi Murmu performed the groundbreaking for the Sri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Center at Kadma Marine Drive. She proclaimed that Lord Jagannath bestows his mercy universally, transcending all barriers of humanity.
With ‘Jai Jagannath’ echoing, the President described the divine abode as devoid of caste or class prejudices. She drew on the adage ‘Jagannath ke bhaat, jagat pasare haath’ to exemplify shared rituals promoting harmony among all.
Viewing the moment as providential, much like the god’s Rath Yatra ascension, she foresaw the center as a catalyst for societal awakening, establishing the lord’s eternal blessings locally.
President Murmu, with her Jharkhand gubernatorial background, lauded Jagannath culture’s integration of tribal lore and Vedic wisdom through the Viswavasu-Vidypati narrative. She connected the wooden deity to sustainable living, core to tribal identity.
Attendees comprised Governor Santosh Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and others. Per S.K. Behera, the trust’s head, this 100-crore venture covers 2.5 acres—main temple (1.5 acres, Puri architecture, four years) and cultural center (1 acre, two years)—to foster youth values via Gita and Bhagavat studies.
