New Delhi’s Sushma Swaraj Bhawan became the epicenter of medical research enthusiasm as the Department of Health Research unveiled ‘Medical College Research Connect 2026’ on Thursday. Spanning February 26 and 27, 2026, the event draws over 100 medical colleges into a national dialogue on research enhancement.
This initiative aims to solidify health research frameworks within medical colleges, empowering them with robust infrastructure. It builds on the Medical College Research Units established via the government’s Central Sector Umbrella Scheme, tailored to spur quality studies and resource availability.
Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, inaugurated the proceedings as chief guest. Joining her was Dr. Abhijat Chandrakant Sheth, Chairman, National Medical Commission, in the capacity of special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Patel reiterated India’s firm resolve to champion health research. She appreciated the commendable work in medical colleges and motivated researchers to pursue excellence relentlessly. ‘High-caliber research in medicine is key to our nation’s developmental aspirations,’ she declared.
The conference agenda is packed with research activity reports from delegates, complemented by specialized workshops, lectures, and forums on proposal optimization, training avenues, and biomedical research techniques. These platforms are intended to foster idea exchange and institutional strengthening.
Organizers anticipate that such conclaves will deepen inter-college collaborations, setting new benchmarks in health research and fortifying India’s healthcare future.
