Seven key Chinese departments, spearheaded by the Ministry of Commerce, launched the latest iteration of the ‘Catalog of Encouraged Imported Services’ on February 25. Fresh categories include ‘Other Professional Services’ such as green building engineering, low-carbon designs, evaluations, certifications, and supply chain management, alongside ‘Medical and Health Services’ focused on severe disease treatment, rehabilitation, and health enhancement.
This expansion aligns with China’s aggressive sustainability agenda, importing specialized knowledge to upgrade infrastructure and reduce emissions. Supply chain services will streamline operations in a complex global market.
Healthcare imports gain emphasis amid demographic shifts, ensuring better management of chronic conditions and promoting overall wellness.
Refinements touched digital tech development, testing, analysis, and resource services, removing redundancies to sharpen focus. Since its 2016 inception, with a 2019 refresh and now 2024 update, the catalog has evolved to mirror economic realities.
The revision promises to open new avenues for foreign service providers, injecting innovation into China’s economy and reinforcing its position as a services trade powerhouse.
