Fresh outrage grips Balochistan as the Pakistani army is implicated in the murders of two civilians, continuing a dark legacy of disappearances and summary executions. Human rights advocates at the Baloch Yakjehti Committee broke the news Thursday, detailing the gruesome fates of Nasram and Aweis Baloch.
Nasram’s nightmare unfolded over 1.5 years. Abducted October 12, 2023, from his Kech home, he faced inhuman torture causing hepatitis and irreparable harm. Family campaigns secured his release June 13, 2024, but on August 8, armed intruders terrorized his household, pistol-whipping women before vanishing him again. His battered corpse washed up by Maksheen River, bearing undeniable signs of abuse.
Echoing this horror, Aweis Baloch, a promising student, was forcibly taken from Panjgur February 23. Discovered dead at Civil Hospital the following day, his killing exemplifies the military’s ‘enforced disappearance to execution’ playbook. BYC labels it a systemic assault on Baloch identity and rights.
Denouncing the impunity, BYC rallies international support from the UN, HRW, and Amnesty for probes into these crimes. Balochistan’s streets echo with demands for accountability; the global stage must now amplify them. Ending this violence requires concerted pressure on Pakistan to uphold human dignity and the rule of law.
