Friday marks a transformative day for the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) as its 57th convocation for the 2024-25 batch unfolds in New Delhi, graced by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Radhakrishnan will bestow awards on exceptional students, spotlighting their contributions to mass communication.
Vaishnaw, doubling as IIMC Chancellor, will lead the foundation ceremony for cutting-edge academic and hostel blocks, a clear investment in future media educators and professionals. The event will also host Secretary Sanjay Jaju and the institute’s academic community, uniting to honor graduating achievements.
Students completing diplomas in specialized journalism tracks (English, Hindi, Radio & TV, Digital, Odia, Urdu, Marathi, Malayalam), advertising, and PR from all campuses will be recognized. Notably, 35 medals—23 with cash incentives—will go to top performers, incentivizing excellence across disciplines.
Enhancing the festivities, Vaishnaw will unveil the Creators Lounge within the Incubation Center, equipping students with tools for modern media production.
From its founding on August 17, 1965, IIMC has extended its reach through regional centers: Dhenkanal, Odisha (1993) for the east; Amravati, Maharashtra, and Aizawl, Mizoram (2011-12) for west and northeast; Jammu (2012-13) for the north; and Kottayam, Kerala (2012-13) for the south—delivering region-specific media training.
The convocation heralds IIMC’s ambitious trajectory, blending tradition with innovation to empower media graduates for leadership roles in a dynamic industry.
