A pivotal moment awaits Mizoram and Tripura’s academic communities as Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan arrives for their university convocations on March 7-8. These long-pending events at central institutions will culminate years of hard work for thousands of students.
Mizoram University in Aizawl hosts its 20th convocation on the 7th, with Radhakrishnan as chief guest after skips in 2024-25. Highlights include gold medals for 283 students and PhDs for 149 researchers, alongside degrees and certificates. IAS official Khilli Ram Meena led a comprehensive review session, briefing departments on duties, logistics, and protocol essentials.
The tour concludes March 8 at Tripura University’s 14th convocation in Suryamaninagar, Agartala outskirts. Radhakrishnan’s inauguration will feature speeches from Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, CM Manik Saha, and Chancellor Ahmad Javed. Acting leaders Shyamal Das and Samir Kumar Shil consulted the Governor at Raj Bhavan on operational readiness.
Born in 1987 and upgraded centrally in 2007 under dedicated legislation, Tripura University affiliates 64 colleges amid expansion. Efforts intensify for appointing a new VC via the Education Ministry. Radhakrishnan’s engagement amplifies these ceremonies, weaving national recognition into local successes and paving ways for enhanced educational equity in India’s dynamic Northeast.
