Quick-thinking security forces in Manipur thwarted a wildfire’s spread near the critical Moreh Integrated Check Post on the India-Myanmar frontier, ensuring no damage to infrastructure or lives. The event unfolded Sunday near the Friendship Bridge, where prompt action by Army and Assam Rifles turned the tide.
A spokesperson detailed how alert border guards in Tengnoupal’s Moreh detected the blaze via rising smoke from nearby woods. Recognizing the peril to the ICP and surrounding sensitive zones, teams surged forward, employing firebreaks and extinguishers effectively. Rigorous protocols and teamwork confined the fire, followed by vigilant patrols.
The outcome validates the military’s holistic vigilance strategy, extending from territorial integrity to ecological and public safety in high-stakes areas.
Moreh’s ICP, a 45.58-acre facility costing Rs 72.67 crore and operational since 2018, is pivotal for the 1,643-km border’s trade dynamics across four states. Tied to the 1,360-km Trilateral Highway vision and bridging to Myanmar’s Sagaing-Kalewa, it symbolizes expanding Indo-Myanmar synergy.
In preventing escalation, the forces not only safeguarded assets but also bolstered confidence in border management’s resilience amid connectivity booms.
