Biometrics triumphed over deception in a shocking Bihar railway scam where a Munger man lived his dream job via a stand-in and AI-like photo fusion. Mukesh Kumar outsourced his technician exam to neighbor Ranjit for Rs 6 lakh, kickstarting a 18-month deception.
The photo ploy stunned investigators: Google-sourced images edited to hybridize faces, creating an ambiguous likeness. Ranjit breezed through Patna CBT and Bhopal medicals. Mukesh then clocked duties in Damoh, Sagar, Jabalpur, and trained in Prayagraj, feeling untouchable.
Routine checks changed everything. On November 14, 2025, biometric mismatch—thumb and face against Ranjit’s data—exposed the ruse. Mukesh fled homeward, only for CBI to swoop in, arresting him and Ranjit. Broader inquiries target Ranjit’s possible network of frauds.
Aadhaar’s design proves foolproof here: flexible photo/address updates demand in-person biometrics, turning every verification into a fraud-killer. This case warns aspirants—tech tricks can’t beat systemic safeguards in public sector jobs.
