WELLINGTON – Georgia Plimmer’s shoulder niggle has forced her out of New Zealand’s ODI showdown with Zimbabwe, prompting Bella James’ inclusion after her injury-cover recall before the third T20.
Ben Sawyer, the head honcho, lamented the development: ‘Our top-order enforcer Georgia delivers unmatched vibe to the setup. We appreciate her deeply; her unavailability stings.’
James, no novice, notched ODI caps against Australia in December 2024 (two games) and was World Cup-bound last year sans action. Boasting near-100 List-A feats, she’s coach’s pick. ‘Top-notch cricketer with priceless nous—she’ll hit the ground running,’ Sawyer opined.
Watch for debuts from Nancy Patel (T20 five-wicket star) and Izzy Sharp (18* & 22* vs Zimbabwe).
Series opener March 5 feeds the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-2029. Post their T20 clean sweep, New Zealand hungers for ODI supremacy at home.
Squad Announcement: Amelia Kerr, Izzy Gaze, Maddie Green, Brooke Halliday, Bree Illing, Polly Inglis, Bella James, Jess Kerr, Emma MacLeod, Rosemary Mair, Nancy Patel, Molly Penfold, Izzy Sharp.
