India’s quest to emerge as a global AI leader is gaining steam through NEP 2020, which prioritizes AI integration in education from grassroots to advanced levels. This creates a seamless bridge from innovation to employable skills.
Backed by 7,634 crore rupees for 1.79 lakh ICT facilities, plus excellence centers and university programs, the initiative is cultivating an expansive AI habitat. Crucially, it’s penetrating rural and indigenous zones, promoting equity in tech access.
The sector’s vitality shines through: 89% of new 2024 startups were AI-centric, 87% of firms used AI actively. The market anticipates 25-35% growth yearly to 2027. Starting with 600,000 AI talents now, projections call for 1.25 million by 2027 at 15% CAGR.
Policies are responsive to AI’s labor impacts. The India AI Mission, started March 2024, fosters collaboration for cutting-edge advancements. NEP 2020 endorses AI for economic uplift, educational reforms, teacher empowerment, and customized learning experiences.
Central to success is tech democratization—pushing AI platforms to isolated hamlets and excluded groups to mend the digital divide. This visionary plan aligns with India@2047, establishing the country as a pioneering, inclusive AI force worldwide.
