Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has unveiled the blueprint for the pioneering Khelo India Tribal Games, a game-changer for India’s tribal sports landscape. From March 26 to April 6, Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Surguja in Chhattisgarh will host this national spectacle.
Medal pursuits in athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming, and wrestling headline the program, with mallakhamb and kabaddi stealing the demo spotlight. Expect fierce rivalries among contingents from states and union territories nationwide.
Aligning with Viksit Bharat@2047, Dr. Mandaviya called it a mission to empower every youth through sports. He focused on tribal regions: ‘Spotting talent here, offering training, and mainstreaming them is our priority for a stronger sports India.’
The festive launch in Bilaspur introduced mascot Morveer, a nod to Chhattisgarh’s heritage—’mor’ for ours, ‘veer’ for heroism—representing tribal fortitude.
Jointly managed by the ministry, SAI, IOA, federations, and Chhattisgarh committee with international-grade protocols, KITG embodies Khelo India’s ethos of grassroots excellence and inclusion. Chhattisgarh’s lead sets a precedent for tribal-driven sports revolution.
