New Delhi’s Raisina Dialogue 2026 turned into a hub of strategic diplomacy on Friday, with EAM S. Jaishankar holding substantive talks with Bhutan and Mauritius counterparts. The event, a cornerstone for debating India’s global positioning, began Thursday under ORF-MEA auspices, attracting a constellation of world influencers.
Central to the day was Jaishankar’s affirmation of India’s resolve to enhance ties with Bhutan during his meeting with FM Lyonpo DN Dhungyel. This ‘special partnership’ thrives on development aid, border cooperation, and cultural affinity. ‘Very happy to meet Bhutan Foreign Minister Lyonpo DN Dhungyel at Raisina Dialogue 2026. Reiterated our commitment to deepening our special partnership,’ he posted on X.
With Mauritius FM Dhananjay Ritesh Ramful, emphasis was on scaling up strategic collaboration amid shared oceanic interests. Investments in infrastructure and fintech underscore their synergy. Jaishankar shared, ‘Pleased to meet Mauritius Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ritesh Ramful. Informed him of our commitment to advancing our excellent strategic partnership.’
Other highlights included praise for Malta Deputy PM Ian Borg’s maritime acumen and timely exchanges with Iran’s Deputy FM against West Asia’s tensions from February 28 strikes.
Jaishankar further interfaced with France’s Europe delegate Benjamin Haddad, Germany’s development secretary Niels Annen, Tanzania’s deputy FM, and prominent analysts Robert Vass and Mark Leonard.
These parleys at Raisina reinforce India’s outward-looking diplomacy. In a world of flux, such engagements cement alliances, drive economic integration, and promote peace, ensuring India’s ascent as a responsible global power.
