UPSC’s announcement of CSE 2025 final results on March 7 brought jubilation to 958 selected candidates and their families. None more so than in Dhanbad, where Shubham Kumar Mahato celebrated his third consecutive success, achieving AIR 142 – a rank poised for top services.
Resident of Baghmara’s Dumra Jamuatand, the 29-year-old is son to Heeralal Mahato of BCCL and Manju Devi. Building on 2023’s 857th and 2024’s 606th positions, Shubham’s refined approach paid dividends, delighting his loved ones.
His scholarly journey started strong: 10th from D-Nobili Chandrapura, 12th from DPS Bokaro, and BTech Mining Engineering from BHU Varanasi as a gold medalist. The call of public service drew him to Delhi for focused UPSC training.
Post-success, Shubham generously credited his parents, advising: ‘Success stems from tireless effort, self-discipline, and patience. Always value your parents’ counsel.’
The top 10 featured Anuj Agnihotri (1), Rajeshwari Suve M (2), Ekanash Dhaul (3), Raghav Jhunjhunwala (4), Ishaan Bhatnagar (5), Jinia Arora (6), AR Raja Mohiddin (7), Pakshal (8), Aastha Jain (9), and Ujjwal Priyank (10).
Shubham’s saga from coal fields to civil services epitomizes resilience, motivating aspirants nationwide to persist.
