Chhattisgarh elections: The date of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh has been announced. Elections are to be held in the state on 7 and 17 November. There are a total of 90 assembly seats in the state. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the names of candidates for 85 seats. Congress may release the list soon. In such a situation, it has been learned from the sources that Congress can cancel the tickets of 20-25 of its MLAs in the upcoming elections. There is a Congress government in the state and the party has a total of 71 MLAs in the assembly.

Why will the ticket be deducted?

TOI quoted sources as saying that Congress may cancel the tickets of 20-25 of its current MLAs. This is because the party had conducted an election related survey in which the report of these MLAs was not good. However, political experts say that it will not be easy for the party to cut the tickets of so many MLAs. This can also have a negative impact on the party.

Benefit to those close to CM Baghel?

According to sources, Congress had conducted several surveys in Chhattisgarh regarding ticket distribution. In these surveys, the reports of 25 out of 71 MLAs have come negative. This means that if he is given the ticket again, Congress may have to face challenges on that seat. The high command had also held a meeting with CM Bhupesh Baghel regarding this. CM Baghel then told the high command that he would agree to whatever would be beneficial for the party.

According to sources, among the MLAs who have been denied tickets, those who are close to CM Baghel may get an advantage. CM Baghel may be against not giving tickets to his close ones. In such a situation, tickets of those close to Baghel cannot be cut. However, Congress has not released a single list yet. Whereas BJP has fielded its candidates on 85 seats. BJP has played OBC card in Chhattisgarh. The saffron party has so far fielded 29 OBC leaders in the election campaign.

Congress will release the first list on Sunday

CM Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday that the first list of Congress candidates for the assembly elections to be held next month will be released on Sunday. Baghel said, ‘The nine-day Navratri festival is going to start from tomorrow. I wish everyone all the best in advance. Tomorrow the first list of candidates of our party will be released. When asked whether all 90 candidates would be announced on Sunday, he said, ‘No, this will be the first list. Another list for the second phase will be released later.
