World cup: Winner’s money increased 365 times in 48 years, transformation of cricket
Earlier cricket was only a gentleman’s game. Ever since the corporate got involved, it has been transformed. Now it has become the second most popular sport in the world after football. There is no shortage of money here. When the ODI World Cup was held for the first time in 1975, the winner received prize money of 9000 pounds. This time, 32.79 lakh pounds (~33.20 crore) will be given to the winner, increased by 365 times. You can see below how the changes took place in the ODI World Cup during these 48 years. The countdown for World Cup 2023 has started. This year India is hosting the World Cup as a full-time host. It also remains to be seen whether India can repeat the history of 2011 by winning the match at home for the second time.
West Indies was champion in the first match played in 1975
Gavaskar’s innings of 36 runs in 174 balls were talked about more than India’s performance. When the ODI World Cup started for the first time in 1975, there was not that much glamour. There was a shortage of teams to play 60 overs matches in white attire. Instead of qualifying matches, the World Cup started with eight teams. This World Cup is known as Prudential World Cup. Prudential Insurance Company sponsored it. The first group had teams from England, New Zealand, India and East Africa, while the second group had West Indies, Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In the match against England, Sunil Gavaskar batted the entire 60 overs and scored only 36 runs in 174 balls. He had hit only one four in his innings. The first century of the World Cup was also scored in this match. England batsman Dennis Amiss had played an innings of 137 runs. The first World Cup was won by West Indies by defeating Australia by 17 runs. He received prize money of 9000 pounds. In the first World Cup, India was successful in winning only by 10 wickets against East Africa.
West Indies champion also in 1979
Australia’s top players did not play due to the World Series. The Kerry Packer World Series was also organized during this World Cup. Australia’s top cricketers rebelled and went to play the World Series. West Indies, which ruled the world of cricket, became world champion for the second time by defeating England by 92 runs in the final. Vivian Richards (138*) and Colin King had performed brilliantly. India could not win any of the three matches of its group.
India became champion in 1983
Kapil Dev’s charismatic players did what no one had even imagined. This played the role of a milestone in the journey of Indian cricket so far. India won the title for the first time by defeating the last two-time champion West Indies. In the final, the Indian team was out for 183 runs, but the West Indies team could only score 140 runs in reply. Mohinder Amarnath and Madan Lal took three wickets each. Kapil’s historic catch of Vivian Richard became the turning point of the match. Earlier, Kapil had single-handedly led India to victory by scoring 175 runs against Zimbabwe.
Australia champion in 1987
For the first time, the event was organized outside England in India and Pakistan. In the final, Australia defeated England by seven runs and achieved the honor of becoming champion for the first time. Chetan Sharma was successful in taking a hat-trick for India for the first time in ODI cricket. Whereas, against New Zealand, Gavaskar had scored 103* runs on 88 balls. However, 1983 world champion India was eliminated in the semi-finals after losing to England by 35 runs at home.
Pakistan champion in 1992
This brought a big change in the ODI World Cup. The era of colorful attire, floodlights, changes in fielding rules and white ball started from this World Cup itself. As the popularity of cricket increased, the number of sponsors increased. South Africa returned to international cricket after 21 years and reached the semi-finals. It rained in the semi-final match when he had to score 22 runs in 13 balls to win. But on the basis of Duckworth Lewis system he got the target of scoring 21 runs in one ball. Along with South Africa, cricket lovers all over the world regretted this. India finished seventh with just two wins in eight matches. Pakistan won the title for the first time by defeating England by 22 runs at Melbourne ground. Imran Khan, Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram were the architects of the victory.
Sri Lankan champion in 1996
World Cup Cricket once again returned to India. The country had great expectations from its team. India reached the semi-finals, winning just two of five matches in their group, but after India fell to 120 for eight in reply to Sri Lanka’s 8/251 in Kolkata, spectators threw bottles on the pitch and burst crackers in the gallery. Burn it. Due to this the match was stopped. Sri Lanka was declared victorious. While making their debut in this World Cup, Kenya surprised everyone by defeating West Indies by 73 runs. Sri Lanka defeated Australia by seven wickets in the final. Arvind de Silva was the architect of Sri Lanka’s victory, taking three wickets and two catches in the final. Along with this he played an unbeaten inning of 107 runs.
Australian champion in 1999
South Africa’s luck was bad once again. The match between Australia and South Africa was tied in the semi-finals. Australia was declared victorious on the basis of its victory over South Africa in the previous match. Australia defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the final and became world champion for the second time. Shane Warne took four wickets in the final and the Pakistani team was out for 132 runs. Australia achieved the target in just 20 overs. India’s performance was poor in Super Six. He could win only against Pakistan and was eliminated.
Australian champion in 2003
Australia won the title for the third time by defeating India by 125 runs in the final. The Australian team remained unbeatable in the entire tournament. Under the leadership of Saurabh Ganguly, the Indian team reached the finals for the second time. Glenn McGrath broke the hearts of Indians by sending Sachin Tendulkar to the pavilion in the very first over. Just before this tournament, Australia’s star spinner Shane Warne had to return home due to doping charges. Kenya surprised everyone by defeating Sri Lanka and entering the semi-finals.
Australian champion in 2007
16 teams took part in this World Cup hosted by West Indies. Australia had completed its hat-trick of winning the World Cup title by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. In the same tournament, Pakistan’s English coach Bob Woolmer died under suspicious circumstances. He was found dead in his hotel room after Pakistan’s unexpected defeat to Ireland in the group stage. Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa became the first international cricketer to hit six sixes in an over. The performance of India and Pakistan was disappointing. Was out of the tournament early.
India became champion for the second time in 2011
This was the last World Cup for Sachin, who ruled cricket for two decades. His dream was fulfilled in his sixth World Cup under the captaincy of Dhoni. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s six hit on a helicopter shot in the final match of this World Cup played hosted by India has become included in the legends of cricket. India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final and the Indian players carried Sachin on their shoulders and circled the field after the victory. India became the first country to win the World Cup on its own soil. Yuvraj Singh was the player of the tournament on the basis of his excellent all-round performance. He also won the Man of the Match award in four consecutive matches, which is a record.
Australia champion for the fifth time in 2015
In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the Australian team once again defeated all the teams and won the World Cup. Australia defeated New Zealand by seven wickets in the final. New Zealand reached the World Cup final for the first time on the basis of Brendon McCullum’s aggressive batting, but New Zealand’s defeat was almost certain when Mitchell Starc’s yorker fell on the third ball. Trent Boult was chosen Player of the Tournament, who took 22 wickets like Starc.
England champion in 2019
This World Cup was full of thrill. Due to the final being tied even after the stipulated hundred overs and Super Over, the winner was selected on the basis of counting of fours and sixes. Many questions were raised regarding the manner in which England won the first World Cup. 10 teams participated in this World Cup and in the single round robin format, India remained on top with seven wins, one loss and one match being abandoned. England defeated Australia and New Zealand defeated India in the semi-finals. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was chosen Player of the Tournament.

The launch of new PCs and laptops may be affected by the spread of Corona in China.
Due to the rapid spread of Corona again in China during the last few weeks, there may be a labor shortage in many industries. This is also likely to affect the launch of new PCs and laptops. In China, the government had given some relaxation in the restrictions related to Corona. Since then the number of people infected with this virus is increasing. The problems of suppliers of companies manufacturing personal computers and laptops in China have also increased due to Corona. Many workers of some of these firms have been infected with the virus and due to this production has had to be temporarily stopped. This will cause delays in shipments, which will impact the availability of products like new laptops. Contract manufacturing firms like Compal, Inventec, Quanta and Wistron have not yet faced shortages of components or workers. Due to the inventory already available with them and the demand not being expected to be very high in the first quarter, they have not asked their suppliers to increase production. However, big companies manufacturing personal computers may face difficulties and this is likely to impact the supply of PCs. The situation in China is worsening due to increasing Corona cases. A large number of people are getting infected by the new variant of this epidemic called BF.7. The reports coming from China have shocked the whole world. The videos coming from Chinese hospitals are scary. One such video has been shared on social media, in which it can be seen that a doctor became so tired due to the workload that he collapsed on his chair. This video has been shared by ‘The Telegraph’. It can be seen that a doctor is looking at the patients present in the hospital. After this he suddenly falls on his chair and other doctors come to help him. This indicates that China’s hospitals are full of patients and the systems there have completely collapsed. Experts say that 60 percent of China’s population may get infected with Corona in the next 90 days. -

He had taken cashew nuts and almonds in his pocket, what did the master thief Lokesh do inside the showroom that day for 18 hours?
When the shutters of a jewelery shop opened on Tuesday morning in Bhogal, the capital Delhi, all the gold, silver and diamonds kept inside were missing. After some time the police reached there and when it was revealed that goods worth Rs 25 crore were stolen from inside the showroom, everyone was shocked. This theft is being described as the biggest theft in Delhi. Delhi Police came into action. Records of about five thousand mobile numbers active in the area were checked. And finally master thief Lokesh Shriwas was arrested in Chhattisgarh. Do you know how much time it took to commit this theft? What did Lokesh do inside the showroom? What plan did he make to carry out such a big theft? Let us know everything one by one…
Reiki three times…
Lokesh is not being called a master thief just like that. FIRs are registered against him in many states. He targets only gold, silver and diamond showrooms. In the year 2019, he had stolen goods worth Rs 5 crore from Parakh Jewelers in Chhattisgarh. Lokesh did Reiki thrice to carry out Delhi’s biggest theft. According to the report of ‘Indian Express’, Lokesh first came to Delhi on September 9 to do Reiki. He kept hovering around the showroom till 12th September. After doing Reiki he went to Vrindavan. Then he came for the second time on 15 September to do Reiki. He came to Delhi on 21st September to do Reiki for the third and last time. This time he did not go back anywhere. In such a situation, it is believed that after the third Reiki, the thief had a strong plan with which he was going to make goods worth crores disappear.
And then goods worth crores went missing…
Master thief Lokesh Umrao Singh entered the jewelers showroom late on the night of 24th September (Sunday). The next day, on 25th September, he came out late in the evening with gold, silver and diamonds from the shop and caught a bus from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh at 9 pm. That means Lokesh spent 18 hours inside the showroom. In this time he had lost goods worth Rs 25 crore.
What did you take inside?
Master thief Lokesh has been to jail many times before. A police officer who investigated his case had told that he carried out the theft incidents alone. Even in Delhi, he had gone alone to the showroom to steal. DCP said that before going inside the shop, he had purchased a disc cutter machine from GB Road for Rs 1300. Apart from this, he had also bought a hammer from Chandni Chowk. Lokesh had brought a screwdriver with him from Chhattisgarh.
Also read- Entered the showroom with a hammer worth Rs 100, as soon as he came out he became the owner of Rs 25 crore!
What did you do for 18 hours?
This question is arising in everyone’s mind that what did a thief keep doing inside the showroom for 18 hours? Lokesh is a clever thief. He has carried out many such small and big incidents. He knew that stealing could take a long time. He also chose the day very thoughtfully. Because in the area where this shop is located, there is a weekly closure on Monday. Because of this he got the whole day of Monday to commit theft. A police officer said that he had taken cashew nuts and almonds with him. When he felt hungry, he used to eat cashew nuts and almonds. It took him 18 hours to dig the tunnel and break all the lockers. After the theft he disappeared from Delhi. After investigation, the police caught him from Durg in Chhattisgarh. He was in a rented room, gold worth crores was lying on the floor. Surprisingly, there is a police post just a few meters away from his room.

Gautam Gambhir (97) and MS Dhoni (91) vs Sri Lanka: World Cup 2011 Final
These two are those innings which brought back the World Cup glory to India after 28 years. India was behind at 31/2 against Sri Lanka. But then, Gautam Gambhir counterattacked and scored 97 runs in 122 balls with the help of nine fours. After Virat Kohli was out for 35 runs, captain MS Dhoni came on the field and made a match-winning partnership of 109 runs for the fourth wicket with Gautam. Dhoni scored unbeaten 91 runs in 79 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes. The sorrow associated with the crushing defeat to Australia in the 2003 World Cup final went away with the winning six. Mahi finished the match in his style and the result was in favor of India. India became world champion for the second time.
Ricky Ponting (140) vs India: World Cup 2003 Final
Indian spectators around the world heaved a sigh of relief when the opening century partnership between Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden came to an end. Due to which the Australian team was reduced to 125/2. But no one had any idea of the devastation that would occur after this. Ricky Ponting stepped onto the crease and, partnering with Damien Martyn (88*), attacked the Indian bowlers vigorously. The Indian team could not take any further wickets and Ponting returned to the pavilion after scoring 140* runs in 121 balls with the help of four fours and eight skyscraper sixes. Australia reached 359/2. They defended their total easily and India suffered one of the toughest defeats in the history of the game.
Kapil Dev (175*) vs Zimbabwe: World Cup 1983
India needed to win the match against Zimbabwe to keep their semi-final hopes alive, but some lethal fast bowling from Peter Rawson and Kevin Curran dashed India’s ambitions. Due to which India was reduced to 17/5. India would have faced a crushing defeat, but Kapil Dev was the last hope. This all-rounder proved to be the ultimate savior for India, scoring 175* runs in 138 balls with the help of 16 fours and six sixes. Martin Guptill (237) vs West Indies: World Cup 2015
When Chris Gayle scored 219 against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup and became the first non-Indian player to do so, it seemed that Gayle’s innings would not be challenged for years. However, after a few days, Kiwi opener Martin Guptill presented another masterclass against Gayle’s team. Guptill brutally thrashed every West Indies bowler and scored 237 runs in 163 balls with the help of 24 fours and 11 sixes, which till date is the highest score in the history of the World Cup and the second highest score in ODI cricket. New Zealand bowled out West Indies for 250 runs, while the target was 394.
Yuvraj Singh (113 & 2/18) vs West Indies: World Cup 2011
The group stage match between India and West Indies was a match like any other until Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh coughed up blood on the pitch and vomited in the dressing room. Apart from those circumstances and equations, Yuvraj was unknowingly fighting the biggest battle of his life against cancer. But despite this, Yuvraj did not give up, scored 113 runs and helped India win the match by taking 2 wickets for 18 runs. This match and performance defined Yuvraj’s 2011 World Cup campaign. A supernatural effort that helped India win the World Cup after 28 years while fighting a life-threatening illness. In the entire tournament he scored 362 runs and took 15 wickets.
Lasith Malinga (4/54) vs South Africa: World Cup 2007
Malinga’s magic is visible only as a fast bowler. But with this Malinga became the first bowler in international cricket to take four wickets in four consecutive balls. They forced South Africa to almost justify their “chokers” tag by reducing nine wickets to 207 runs while chasing the target of 210 runs until Robin Pietersen scored the winning run. South Africa won a resultless Super Eight match, but Malinga created history.
Sourav Ganguly (183) vs Sri Lanka World Cup 1999
In India’s group stage match against Sri Lanka, Ganguly played one of the best innings by an Indian in World Cup history. His innings of 183 runs in 158 balls with the help of 17 fours and seven sixes and 318-run partnership with Rahul Dravid (145) took India to the match-winning score of 373/6. This knock gradually led to an aggressive approach throughout Indian batting, which was visible in the subsequent World Cups.
Gary Gilmour (28* & 6/14) vs England: World Cup 1975 Semi-Final
Playing on home soil, England were favorites against Australia in the semi-finals of the 1975 World Cup. But fast bowler Gary Gilmour wreaked such havoc that England was reduced to 37/7 at one point and the entire team was out for 93 runs. Later, chasing the target of 94 runs, Australia won by four wickets. Gilmour scored an unbeaten 28 runs with the bat. He took 6 wickets for 14 runs in 12 overs.

He completed one of the most devastating hat-tricks in the history of cricket. He produced figures of 6/25 in 9.1 overs, which helped Bangladesh bowl out 124 runs. Sri Lanka won with 10 wickets remaining.
Eoin Morgan (148) vs Afghanistan: World Cup 2019
During the group stage match between England and the Afghans, captain Eoin Morgan launched a brutal attack on Afghanistan’s bowlers, especially spinner Rashid Khan. No one was spared as Morgan left no corner of the field untouched. He scored unbeaten 148 runs in 71 balls with the help of four fours and 17 sixes, which is the highest score so far in an ODI innings. England reached a match-winning total of 397 and T20 sensation Rashid was reduced to just a club bowler, giving away 110 runs in nine overs.
